This site makes extensive use of artificial intelligence (AI) mostly using ChatGPT. There are several reasons we have chosen to do so:
- Privacy. These are our children. We do post their photos on other sites but not here. Other children also appear here. Many are imagined by ChatGPT with no intended correspondence to actual persons. Names are changed or randomly invented. Some times (like in a sports image) the image may be based on and actual game photo but the likeness will be in comic form.
- Understanding. AI is almost certainly not going away. I want to understand it. I want to understand how it works and it’s limitations.
- Lack of Drawing Skills. I cannot draw with pencil, paints, or stylus. I am a fairly accomplished photographer with a creative eye. I am pretty much expert in online-related technology but always learning new tools. I want to use the talents I do have as facilitated by AI.
My stance on ethical use of AI:
- Pandora’s Box has been opened. Surely, many evils have erupted from said box. No question. Lot’s of evil. But Pandora’s Box was eventually closed with the gift of Hope left for humanity. I want to foster this hope. This site is intended to be cute and funny, and a safe haven for parents to find stories to read their children.
- I am a published author. Some of my works have been consumed by AI agents. I worked as a profession wedding photographer for many years as a second job. (My first wedding was shot in 1969.) Certainly many of my professional photographs have been consumed by AI agents. If I could have prevented it I would have. I could enter into the class action lawsuit that authors have with AI companies but I am not going to bother. It would be time consuming and my share of the multimillion dollar settlement would probable be less that a few bucks.
- Do I want to go back to the “good old days” before technology. No. It is what it is. My plan is to “do the next right thing“. IYKYK.
