This site makes extensive use of artificial intelligence (AI) mostly using ChatGPT. There are several reasons we have chosen to do so:
- Privacy. These are our children and grandchildren . We do post their photos on other sites but not here. Other children also appear here. Many are imagined by ChatGPT with no intended correspondence to actual persons. Names are changed or randomly invented. Some times (like in a sports image) the image may be based on and actual game photo but the likeness will be in comic form.
- Understanding. AI is almost certainly not going away. We all need to understand it. We need to understand how it works and it’s limitations.
- Lack of Drawing Skills. Some of us cannot draw with pencil, paints, or stylus. Grandfather is a fairly accomplished photographer with a creative eye. He is pretty much expert in online-related technology but always learning new tools. Let’s experiment on how to use the talents we do have as facilitated by AI.
My stance on ethical use of AI:
- Pandora’s Box has been opened. Surely, many evils have erupted from said box. No question. Lot’s of evil. But Pandora’s Box was eventually closed with the gift of Hope left for humanity. ILet’s foster this hope. This site is intended to be cute and funny, and a safe haven for parents to find stories to read their children.
- Grandfather is a published author. Some of his works have been consumed by AI agents. He worked as a profession wedding photographer for many years as a second job. Certainly many of his professional photographs have been consumed by AI agents. If he could have prevented it he would have.
- Do I want to go back to the “good old days” before technology. No. It is what it is. My plan is to “do the next right thing“.
